Encouraging students to work in groups can be a challenge in the middle school classroom. Throw in a dose of competition and students begin to gain more motivation. This session will focus on using Harry Potter style houses as a tool to create meaningful groups across classes while fostering genuine cooperation among students. Students in the house system compete year-long in cooperative groups through academic activities and the display of good character in hope of receiving “The House Cup.” Parents join the fun along the way in house competitions and in the final house cup award party. Come join the fun, be sorted, and compete for eternal classroom glory!
