29th March 2014, Live stream 1.15 – 2.00pm
National Centre for Early Music
Baroque violinist Rachel Podger returns to the National Centre for Early Music to work with the string players from York Arts Academy Symphony Orchestra, along with Ruth Alford (cello) from the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and Andrew Passmore (harpsichord). During the live stream, Rachel will discuss and demonstrate topics they have worked on in the morning session, such as bowing, phrasing, articulation and ornamentation, then get the participants to try them out. People watching online will be able to join in with the exercises remotely.
This masterclass forms the final part of York Baroque Strings Project, a year-long collaboration between the NCEM, the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and York Arts Academy. Please see www.ncem.co.uk/baroquestrings for further details.
