The University of Arizona Wind Ensemble and UA Chamber Players will perform sharing the stage in Crowder Hall on Sunday, December 8, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. The concert will feature music by Francis Poulenc, Percy Grainger, Morton Gould, David Maslanka, and Ottorino Respighi.
The featured soloist for this concert is faculty pianist John Milbauer, who will perform Francis Poulenc's "Aubade" with the UA Chamber Players. Both ensembles will be under the direction of faculty conductor Gregg Hanson. Kevin Holzman will also lead the Wind Ensemble.
The Wind Ensemble will perform the second portion of the concert, featuring both traditional and new compositions. Some of these pieces will be performed during the Wind Ensemble’s upcoming tour to Las Vegas, Reno, and the CBDNA conference. The program includes "Colonial Song" by Percy Grainger, Symphony for Band “West Point” by Morton Gould, Requiem by David Maslanka, and the fourth movement of Ottorino Respighi’s "Pines of Rome."
