The University of Arizona Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band will perform in Crowder Hall on Friday, December 6 at 7:30 p.m.
Award-winning School of Music graduate student Kyung Lee will be the featured soloist with the Symphonic Band in Edvard Grieg's Piano Concerto in A Minor.
The Symphonic Band will perform a program of marches and atmospheric compositions for wind band. The pieces include Gordon Jacobs "An Original Suite," John Mackey’s "Sheltering Sky," John Philip Sousa’s "Nobles of the Mystic Shrine," Edvard Grieg’s Piano Concerto in A minor and Alfred Reed’s Russian Christmas Music.
The Wind Symphony will perform the second half of the concert, starting with Edvard Grieg’s "Funeral March in Memory of Rikard Nordraak" and featuring David Maslanka’s spectacular "Symphony No. 4."
Both ensembles will be directed by conductor Kevin Holzman, and graduate conductor Oscar Thorp will also conduct the Symphonic Band.
