Following a successful bid to Arts Council England, and for the first time, the new Brighton & Hove Music Education Hub, ‘SoundCity’ will bring together the leading organisations for music in the city. This partnership reflects the unique artistic and cultural landscape of the city and a shared mission to enhance and further develop music education and opportunities that reflect the needs of children and young people.
The award winning Brighton & Hove City Council’s Music & Arts Service is working with all the city’s schools and more than 20 music agencies and organisations across the city including Brighton Dome & Festival, Glyndebourne, University of Sussex, Rhythmix, Audio active, BIMM and Made in Brighton.
SoundCity’s vision is for all children and young people in the city, whatever their background, to be able to engage with, to enjoy, and to be inspired by high quality music and arts opportunities.
The launch event is an opportunity to find out more about SoundCity and more importantly have a chance to experience the wealth of young musical talent in the city ranging from classical to jazz, rock and pop to hip hop; from soloists to ensembles, three piece outfits to big bands.
This isn’t about the musicians of the future – this is about the musicians of now and the exceptional talent forged in the city’s schools, studios and bedrooms.
