We are proud to present the second in our series of organ recitals performed by both internationally recognised and local musicians on the Concert Hall’s very own historic instrument.
Current box office success Les Miserables is just one of the shows that international musician Michael Wooldridge will feature when he presents an afternoon of music for all, including the genius of George Gershwin, a Mexican Fiesta medley, Deep Purple, the Trumpet Voluntary and much more, on the magnificent Dome Organ.
Michael, who is often featured on BBC Radio 2’s ever popular programme, The Organist Entertains, has played for HRH Prince Charles at the Odeon Leicester Square and appeared as soloist with the legendary Mantovani Orchestra.
Originally from Portslade, in his teens Michael used to enjoy attending the regular concerts played by the Dome’s resident organist Douglas Reeve. Michael says, “It is a joy for me to be returning to home territory to play a programme of theatre organ music on this most wonderful of instruments, and I look forward to featuring all of the superb percussions, the real drums, cymbals, tambourines, glockenspiels and xylophones, along of course with the thousands of pipes!”
