KEYNOTE: Big Data and the Cloud: We better get Security right Mary Ann Mezzapelle, Security Strategist for HP Enterprise Services With big data, cloud and the changing role of the CIO, security in the cloud in a complex matter. Information is the new business currency. Have you been able to turn the massive volume, velocity, and variety of “big data” into practical knowledge? How will you proactively manage information-related business opportunity and risk? Does your company have 'shadow IT' and have you assessed the exposure? With multiple providers, do you have the governance processes in place to understand the solutions and risk to the whole enterprise? In a hybrid environment, you'll be hard pressed to respond to business needs with necessary agility while minimizing the enterprise's risk posture. This requires managing the information explosion, understanding the changing services model, technology components, critical processes and taking an end-to-end view. Mary Ann Mezzapelle is a Security Strategist for HP Enterprise Services. In that role, she is responsible for integrating technology strategy and planning capabilities across HP. She has worked with HP for over 20 years serving as business transformation and technology advisor to major clients in industries such as financial, insurance, travel, energy, transportation, and manufacturing . She has CISSP, CSSLP and ITIL certifications. Currently, she is the Co-Chair for The Open Group Security Forum. She is also an author of HP viewpoint papers, frequent contributor to Information Systems Security Association (ISSA) board activities, and InfraGard programs. In her spare time, she is supporting the US troops at home and seeking a cure for Type 1 Diabetes.
