Integrating Open FAIR Risk Analysis into the Enterprise Architecture Capability
William Estrem, President, Metaplexity Associates, US;
Jim May, Windsor Software Inc., US
This presentation will describe how the Open FAIR standard can be employed to enhance the Risk Management techniques that are included in the TOGAF® 9.1 standard.
TOGAF®, an Open Group standard, has always recommended that Risk Management be part of the Architecture Development Method (ADM). A basic approach is described In the TOGAF 9 specification. However, the Open FAIR standard provides a more detailed approach to Risk Analysis that can be used to evaluate risk scenarios. This can result in improved architecture decisions.
This presentation will demonstrate a worked example of an Open FAIR analysis of an architecture scenario. It will demonstrate the procedures need to conduct the analysis and the quantitative methods that are employed.
Bill Estrem is the President of Metaplexity Associates LLC. He is actively involved in the development of TOGAF® and ArchiMate®. He is a past chair of the Architecture Forum and chairman of the Modeling and terminology committee in the Forum. He has also served a two year term on The Open Group board of Governors.
