Veritas Forums are student-led university events throughout the U.S. and Canada that engage students and faculty in discussions about life's hardest questions and the relevance of Jesus Christ to all of life. The aim is to feature a prominent Christian scholar who can address timely themes in a way that appeals to university students, whether confessing Christians or searching skeptics
Our two-evening event "Is [It] True?" on Monday and Tuesday, February 18-19, 2013 will feature Dr. Robin Collins (Monday evening) and Dr. Stephen T. Davis (Tuesday evening).
Dr. Robin Collins is a Professor of Philosophy and Chair of the Department of Philosophy at Messiah College. Collins is the foremost defender of what is known as the teleological argument for the existence of God. He has a background in both physics and philosophy and will be discussing how the specific physical constants and conditions in the universe are finely-tuned for intelligent life and how this "fine-tuning" gives us reason to believe in a Creator.
Dr. Stephen Davis is a Professor of Philosophy at Claremont McKenna who will be discussing the problem of religious diversity. In his talk he will attempt to refute religious pluralism -- the idea that "all roads lead to heaven" -- and he will attempt to show some of the integral truth claims of Christianity to be plausibly true.
