I hypothesize that sub-microscopic genomic disorders are present in livestock species and affect regions of the genome important for normal testes development and function. My research interest include developmental biology, development and function of the male reproductive tract especially the testes, and developmental and physiological genomics. I have established research interests in the cellular and molecular mechanisms regulating the development and function of the testes and which influences spermatogenesis using a variety of animal models including goats, and mice. Insults to the normal fetal developmental program of the testes likely manifest as poor semen quality in adults. A functional genomics approach to identify novel genes important for fetal testes development may also facilitate the identification of genetic markers for fertility.
