This video conference will look at political and social changes in the Middle East area, and centers around the theme of violent versus nonviolent resistance, and the possibilities and limitations each alternative offers. Each ‘Middle East in Transition’ is catered to the intellectual level and aptitudes of either the Middle School or High School students who take part. Each event is geared to helping students develop their ideas and understanding of the important role societal resistance has played in generating political change in various Middle Eastern countries. Students will interact live with experienced and informed speakers and mentors, who will help them understand the difficult political situation in the Middle East, and the important role that region’s political future will play in our global community. Students will also be able to use the virtual classroom and the live conference to interact with each other, to share ideas and opinions on this important global issue, and to have questions answered by our mentors and speakers.
