This video conference will give students the opportunity to connect with international artists to learn how they have used art as both a personal and political response to conflict and tension in their home countries. Students will have the chance to engage with each other through the virtual classroom to learn collectively about the efforts and struggles artists face in developing countries, especially under religious and political pressures. The guest speakers for this events are all experienced and recognized artists, who have used their talent to address political and social issues in their home countries. The focus on the Middle East will allow students to gain a new perspective on this particular conflict, with the speakers creating a personal and communal environment in which students can learn, discuss, and share ideas.
