In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
TEDxQueenstown is to be held on April 05, 2013 in Queenstown, New Zealand and, besides of the 100 attendees, the organizers want to expand the experience and concept of "Ideas worth Spreading..." by broadcasting the event live in the internet.
TEDxQueenstown is being organised by an informal local group which meets each Thursday for breakfast to discuss innovative, creative and inspiring ideas. Spokesperson Trent Yeo says the group decided to organise TEDxQueenstown as a platform to showcase some of the brilliant ideas generated locally, regionally and nationally.
“We’ve been inspired by others around New Zealand and throughout the world and we want to bring this spirit of ideas and innovation to Queenstown. The TEDx programme of local, self organised events gives us a great framework to celebrate ideas amongst an awesome landscape.”
“This is definitely in the spirit of ideas worth spreading,” said Mr Yeo.
