The Big O, hosted by the Emerald City Roller Girls of Eugene, Oregon, is an annual flat track roller derby invitational tournament that features teams that play women's, men's, and junior roller derby. The inaugural Big O was held in 2012 in Springfield, Oregon at the Willamalane Center for Sports and Recreation. Because of the success of the initial event, the Big O was able to grow and move into a bigger facility for 2013, offering more tracks, more games, more derby!! The 2013 Big O featured twelve WFTDA teams, eight MRDA teams, and four junior teams with teams visiting from Australia, England, Canada, Utah, Arizona, Idaho, California, Washington, and Oregon. The first international men's roller derby game took place at the 2013 Big O between London's Southern Discomfort (thank you gents for coming!) and Ukiah's Deep Valley Belligerents (read the write-up on DNN here). ECRG is eager to continue to grow this event and keep the whole world coming year after year.
